Finding Nodes

This option can be used to find nodes on the tree based on the text of the item.

The Project/Matter Lookup option (see "Project/Matter Lookup") only looks at the lowest level of the tree. The Find Nodes option will look at the text of the nodes that have been loaded from the server. Most customers have a two level tree - clients at the top and projects/matters underneath. Therefore the Project/Matter Lookup and Find Nodes options can be used in conjunction - Project/Matter Lookup searches the bottom of the tree to find projects, Find Nodes searches the top of the tree to find clients.

To use Find Nodes, first click on the Find Nodes button on the toolbar. You will be prompted to enter some text. When you click OK, the first match will be highlighted on the tree, for example searching for "king" on the sample database yields the following:

Once you have found an item, you can find the next item by clicking the Find Next toolbar button. (Alternatively you can press F4.) Again on the sample database, the next matching node is displayed:
