Browsing and Searching the Email Store

One of the most powerful features in Topaz Filer is the ability to review stored emails without having to leave the Microsoft Outlook environment.

Right-click on a project node within the tree and select the Browse/Open Email Store option. (See "Filing Model Context ("Right-click") Menu".) This will display a window that shows a list of the emails within the store.

Depending on how your systems administrator has configured the system you may or may not be able to see a preview of the message at this point. In either case, you can right-click on any message and select the Open Message option to view the complete message. (As a shortcut, you can right-click the message you wish to open too.)

As well as being able to view a list of messages, you can search messages from this window too. Enter search terms into the Containing text field and press the Search button to do this.

You will then be provided with a list of messages that contain the text you were searching for. The search operation will look in the sender name and address, recipients name and address, subject line, attachment filenames the first "chunk" of the email message body. (The size of this chunk is defined by your systems adminsitrator but is usually large enough to encompass the significant text of the email.) Here is a sample result:
