As an open system, Topaz Filer is designed to integrate with a wide variety of practice management systems (PMS), customer relationship management systems (CRM) and document management systems (DMS).
This schematic shows the general premise of Topaz Filer - i.e. taking the definition of your clients and matters from a database, allowing the user to interact with the filing process directly from within Microsoft Outlook and save emails in a separate store.
Filing Model Integration
The
filing model describes the list of clients and matters that your firm engages with. This screenshot shows a typical “filing tree” running inside of Outlook. The filing model is the thing used to build the filing tree:
Out-of-the-box Topaz Filer can connect to any native SQL Server database or any database accessible out of ODBC. This allows you to connect the application up to virtually every PMS and DMS on the market.
Topaz Filer is currently available with support for:
- Native Microsoft SQL Server connector
- ODBC connector
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4
Store Integration
A
store is a location where you want to store emails. Typically this will be a document management system. Out-of-the-box Topaz Filer can support Microsoft SharePoint (Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server), or can store files directly on a network share.
Here’s an example of an email sitting in a SharePoint store.
We offer plug-ins that extend Topaz Filer and make them work with the following DMS systems:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server
- Any Network File Share
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4
- Infonic Document Manager
Support is also included for Microsoft Search Server 2008.
Topaz Filer is able to automatically create filing areas within the store using the
store synchronisation feature.
